Over the years, we have observed a recurring issue in the Nepalese hydropower sector – technical problems such as installation failures, operational disruptions, and technical glitches. Interestingly, despite the availability of qualified and experienced Nepalese engineers and technicians locally, many hydropower companies still rely on foreign, mainly Indian, engineers for technical advice and services. Unfortunately, this has led to some companies being deceived with sub-standard plant and equipment, resulting in frequent repairs and inefficient operations.
